2025 may have been a year of hardship for my business, but it also revealed the grit and creativity that define small business owners. By reframing the narrative to highlight resilience and progress, we enter 2026 not only with caution, but with confidence. The story of small business is not one of defeat — it’s one of determination, adaptation, and community. Collaborating with other amazing small business owners, for me this year, has been the most powerful tool of all!
The Importance of Collaboration
Collaboration is no longer optional — it’s a survival strategy. By working together, small businesses can:
- Expand reach: Cross-promotions with complementary businesses introduce you to new customers.
- Share resources: Unlocking opportunities that would be out of reach alone, building on to resiliency and sustainability.
- Innovate faster: Joint ventures spark fresh ideas and allow experimentation with less risk.
- Strengthen resilience: A network of partners provides support during slow seasons or even crises.
- Build community identity: Collaborative events and campaigns reinforce the role of small businesses as community anchors.
Despite the narrative of the small business struggle due to inflation, rising costs, and unpredictable economic conditions which have resulted in leaving many owners struggling to maintain stability, the spirit of community has shown that we are still able to thrive as a collective. I have high hopes for the new year and plan to keep going.
